Makeup started out as a fun thing to do
When my friends & I had nothing to do
Even though I thought I didn’t have a clue
My friends would love their cool new hue
Next day at school the other girls would say, “could you do that for me too?”
Discovered a talent
But also had parents
who weren’t very pleased
So I went to college to study pre-law to make ‘em proud
But life became one big puffy dark cloud
Worked in a law firm wearing pink and glitter
Lawyers gave me looks that were quite bitter
“This is a law firm, they would say,
dress appropriately if you want to stay.”
The other secretaries in the office were in awe!
Why would a colorful girl like you be studying law?
“You’re a great artist they would say!”
But I looked at them in dismay
I stared into space and took a deep breath, and then said
“If I’ll be a makeup artist I’ll probably starve to death!!!
With a little encouragement I went ahead. I thought,
“why not be a makeup artist, really, instead?
Of course by now my parents thought I’ve lost my head!
But as it turns out women love what I can do for them. They’d say,
“where were you when I needed you back then?”
Well no offense, but when you were thirty I was probably only ten!
I love what I do in every way
Whether it’s film, commercial, print, a model, or
A bride that’s gone awry
I think everyone is pretty in their own special way and
If I can make you see what I see then I’ve made my day!
Well enough about me and my career
So tell me, how would you like to have your makeup done, dear?…
